On Dec. 29th, 2009 an 18 year old girl, Kassandra, “Kassy” Kerfoot was in a vehicle accident. The wreck occurred about a mile from my house. She was texting while driving when she crossed the yellow line into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup head-on. Kassy died that night in the hospital, surrounded by her family…

This song is a tribute to Kassy Kerfoot, Erica Forney, Gordon Patterson, A.J. Larson, Linda Doyle,
Margay Schee, Cady Reynolds, Ashley Johnson, Chelsea Murphy, Joe Teater, Jacy Good, Eric Okerblom,
and all of the thousands of families wounded by cell phone use behind the wheel.

I want to thank you for watching the video. Though I never met Kassy, her tragic story inspired me to write this song, and I wanted to honor her family and others affected by this 100% preventable tragedy.

I know driving and using your phone behind the wheel is considered "the norm" to a lot of people, but in reality it is a HUGE epidemic that is taking lives every day. It’s a problem, and that is why I am hoping my video can change your mind about using your cell phone behind the wheel. And please, if you are a new driver like me, never get in the habit to start with... it’s just that simple.

So now you know. If you continue to drive and use your phone behind the wheel, you are intentionally doing so. There are no excuses. There are no accidents.

It only takes a single second to change someone’s life forever. Pass it on. The message has to get out to everyone because we all share the road together.

Thanks!
